About Me
I live in St Helier Central with my husband Gary and our daughter Beatrice, and I am proud to be standing again with Reform Jersey. Before entering politics, I worked in the public sector, including in State Government in Western Australia, was involved in trade union representation and served as Chair of Reform Jersey. That experience shaped my belief that politics should make a practical difference to people’s daily lives. As Deputy and now Minister for Social Security, I have worked to support working people, families and pensioners, and to provide strong representation for St Helier.
My priorities as Deputy
My priorities as Deputy are shaped by what people in St Helier Central tell me matters most in everyday life. The cost of living is still the biggest pressure for many households, so I will keep pushing for fair pay, targeted support and strong, well-run public services that deliver value for money.
I am proud of what I have delivered this term. I have raised the minimum wage, expanded Pension Plus, introduced the Back to School Bonus, extended access to the Community Costs Bonus, improved support for unpaid carers, provided financial support for parents of children with life-limiting illnesses, made disability and inclusion a stronger priority in my work as Minister, and increased compensation in unfair dismissal and discrimination cases.
Housing is another priority. Too many people are dealing with high rents, insecurity and poor conditions. I will continue to support better tenants’ rights, more secure housing, and action to make sure St Helier gets the attention it deserves.
I have always believed that being a good Deputy means being visible, approachable and willing to take up the issues people raise with me. I have worked with residents to push for road safety improvements on St John’s Road, and raised the case for upgrading the play park at Parade Gardens, which led to the new facilities there.
I want to keep improving support for families, pensioners, carers and disabled Islanders. I am standing with Reform Jersey because I believe you can achieve more as part of a strong team, and I want to keep delivering for St Helier Central.
