Through my work in Government (and my experience as a volunteer) I’ve seen first-hand how the island is becoming increasingly unequal. This inequality is making life harder for people today. But it’s also making it harder to meet the challenges we’re going to face in the coming decades. Jersey has an aging population, low birthrates, and little economic diversity. We must diversify our economy so that we can care for people throughout their lives, make it easier for families to build a home here, and provide the infrastructure that supports us all.

We can only meet these challenges by making it possible for more people to aspire, achieve, and contribute to our economy. If you elect me, I will focus on three main areas:

Advocate for investment in St Helier

• Support the building of the Gas Place School
• Work on identifying a site to replace Rouge Bouillon School
• Progress the Havre des Pas Shoreline Management Plan, and make sure it includes much-needed amenities for our community

Be honest and decisive in tackling the cost of living

• Be honest about what Jersey can realistically do to tackle the cost of living
• Focus on the levers we have (tax, housing, and childcare) and use these tools in an effective and sustainable way
• Build homes for those looking to downsize so we can free up desperately needed family homes

Focus on policies that create opportunities for everyone

• Campaign for more affordable and high-quality childcare
• Create better access and funding for life-long learning
• Support the passage of a Hate Crime Law to protect our communities

I am proud to be standing alongside Tom and Beatriz, who have spent the last four years delivering for St Helier South. If I am elected, I will work alongside them to ask the difficult questions, seek out your views, and act on behalf of our community.
