During the past 4 years, I have been proud to serve the constituents
of St Helier South and support workers across our community. I have
supported people with employment issues, including unfair dismissal and
discrimination cases, housing problems, situations in Health and Social
Security, and many of the day to day issues faced by my constituents.
I believe public life should be guided by integrity and empathy. Every
decision I have made during this term has based on these principles. As a
Reform Jersey candidate, I stand for a culture of respect, where different
experiences are valued and individual voices are heard. I am committed to
bringing your voice to the Assembly.
We must safeguard human, social and environmental resources for future generations
to thrive. We must support green transport initiatives, not only to reduce our carbon
emissions and have cleaner air in St Helier but to encourage healthier lifestyles by
walking or cycling to town. St Helier South receives a lot of traffic, reducing this will
benefit us in so many ways.
I recognise the importance of the finance industry to Jersey’s economy; however,
another integral part of the Jersey economy are the small businesses that provide
services to locals and visitors. We must create an environment where small business
and hospitality can thrive. I understand and have experience of this as a small
business owner.
While supporting businesses, we cannot forget the people that work for them.
In the next term, if elected, I want to focus on ensuring that we review our current
employment laws, ensuring that they are still fit for purpose and provide the right
protections to employees.
As a mother of three, I am fortunate that all my children still live and work in Jersey and
we can share our family moments. Many parents, however, are seeing their children
leave Jersey because they don’t see a future here. We need to turn the tide on this and
give young people a future in Jersey.
