My priorities as Deputy
I am standing for re-election to continue to be a voice for the
people of St Helier South.
During the past 4 years I have fought for better housing standards,
fairer contributions for Social Security and LTC and provide certainty of
Psychotherapist and Counsellors. Locally, I have supported residents
with a range of issues from housing to fighting inappropriate planning
applications.
The amount of money wasted, by flip flopping on major capital projects, is an
embarrassment. The new hospital saga can never be repeated. This is why it is
important to ensure that projects like Fort Regent are seen through to the end. Fort
Regent is an iconic building on our skyline that should not sit empty for any longer
than is necessary. I believe that Fort Regent is right to become a proper leisure
complex, offering a full range of activities, for all ages like it was when I was growing
up. However, it is also important to make use of all space available, if there is an
opportunity for some sports clubs to return, then this should be allowed to happen.
The new school at Gas Place needs to be built, my attempt to move this build to the
former play.com site failed by 3 votes. I commit to ensuring that the space at the
current Springfield School will become a new park as soon as possible after the new
school is built.
The Shoreline Management Plan, from Havre des Pas to Greve D’Azette, is a great
opportunity to provide more public space, safer cycle routes while protecting £1billion
worth of homes and businesses from tidal flood damage.
My promise to you, the voter, is that you will see benefits of your taxes.
