Reform Jersey
Privacy Notice
Last updated: 7 May 2026
Reform Jersey takes the privacy of our members, supporters, donors, volunteers and website visitors seriously. This Privacy Notice explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, who we may share it with, how long we keep it, and what rights you have.
Reform Jersey is the data controller for the personal information we collect and use. This means we decide why and how your personal information is processed.
For any questions about this Privacy Notice, or to exercise your data protection rights, please contact us at: admin@reformjersey.je
Information we collect
We may collect and use the following types of personal information:
- your name, address, parish, postcode and contact details;
- your date of birth, where this is needed for membership or youth membership;
- information you provide when you apply to become a member or supporter;
- information about donations, payments, subscriptions or membership fees;
- information about volunteering, campaigning, events or other ways you choose to get involved;
- messages or enquiries you send to us;
- records of your communication preferences;
- limited technical information about how our website is used, where cookies, analytics or security tools are in place.
Because Reform Jersey is a political party, information showing that you are a member, supporter, donor or volunteer may reveal your political opinions. This is treated as special category data under Jersey data protection law and we handle it with particular care. The Jersey Office of the Information Commissioner explains that political opinions are special category data and need an additional lawful condition for processing.
How we use your information
We use personal information to:
- process membership applications and manage membership records;
- contact members and supporters about Reform Jersey's work, campaigns, events and activities;
- process donations, membership fees and other payments;
- organise volunteers and campaign activity;
- respond to enquiries and requests;
- meet our legal, financial, electoral and regulatory obligations;
- keep our website, records and systems secure;
- maintain accurate records of consent, unsubscribes and objections.
We will only use your personal information where we have a lawful basis to do so. This may include your consent, our legitimate interests as a political party, the administration of your membership, or compliance with legal obligations. Jersey data protection guidance says organisations must identify a lawful basis for ordinary personal data and, where special category data is involved, a condition under Schedule 2 Part 2 of the Data Protection (Jersey) Law 2018.
Contacting you
If you sign up as a member, supporter, donor or volunteer, we may contact you about Reform Jersey's work, campaigns, events, membership, fundraising and ways to get involved.
You can ask us to stop sending you campaign, fundraising or promotional messages at any time. If you object to direct marketing, we will stop using your personal information for that purpose. Jersey OIC guidance states that direct marketing includes communications promoting aims or ideals, and that individuals have the right to object to this.
Who we share information with
We do not sell your personal information.
We may share limited personal information where necessary with:
- website, database, email and IT service providers;
- payment providers, such as PayPal or bank payment services;
- professional advisers, such as accountants or legal advisers;
- the Judicial Greffe, Jersey Electoral Authority, Jersey Office of the Information Commissioner or other public authorities where required by law;
- other service providers who help us administer membership, donations, communications or campaign activity.
Where we use service providers to process personal information on our behalf, we expect them to keep it secure and only use it for the purposes we have instructed.
Donations and legal obligations
If you make a donation, we may need to keep records to comply with election, political party, accounting and regulatory requirements. In some circumstances, information about donations may need to be reported or made public where required by law.
How long we keep information
We will only keep personal information for as long as necessary for the purpose it was collected, including to meet legal, accounting, electoral or regulatory requirements.
As a general guide:
- membership records are kept while you are a member and for a reasonable period afterwards;
- supporter and volunteer records are kept while you remain engaged with us, unless you ask us to stop contacting you;
- donation and financial records are kept for the period required by law or good accounting practice;
- enquiry records are kept for as long as needed to respond and maintain appropriate records;
- unsubscribe or objection records may be kept so that we can make sure we do not contact you again for that purpose.
Your rights
You have rights under Jersey data protection law. These include the right to:
- be informed about how your personal information is used;
- ask for access to your personal information;
- ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete information;
- ask us to delete your information in certain circumstances;
- ask us to restrict how we use your information;
- object to how we use your information, including for direct marketing;
- withdraw consent where we rely on consent;
- ask about automated decision-making, if this applies.
To exercise your rights, contact us at admin@reformjersey.je.
You also have the right to raise a concern with the Jersey Office of the Information Commissioner if you are unhappy with how we handle your personal information.
Security
We take reasonable steps to keep personal information secure and to protect it from unauthorised access, loss, misuse or disclosure. Access to personal information is limited to people who need it for Reform Jersey purposes.

We may update this Privacy Notice from time to time. The latest version will be published on our website.
