Government Plan 2020


On Tuesday 26th November, the States of Jersey will be making important decisions which will affect you and your family.

This will include how you are taxed, how your money is spent and how we support the people in our community.

Reform Jersey believes that the States of Jersey should work to improve the quality of life for all in our community, in particular children, pensioners and hard-working Islanders who have struggled to make ends meet over recent years.

Our States Members are asking the States to take action to approve our plans to make Jersey a fairer society.

Our plans are to:

  • Reduce the cost of seeing a GP to £10 for pensioners, children, pregnant women and those on low incomes
  • Cancel the planned tax rise of 1% and raise taxes on the highest earners instead
  • Increase parental leave support so families on lower incomes can afford to spend time with their new-born children
  • Update our tenancy laws to introduce new rights for tenants against unfair evictions and rent increases, and introduce £10m support for first time buyers
  • Increase GST on luxury vehicles so we can look at exempting electric vehicles and home insulation
